Slow Down, You Move Too Fast

Do you ever feel like your life as a parent is whizzing by in a series of laundry, dirty dishes and driving around?  I don’t want to pass my children blurry in my side window, only catching a glimpse.  I want to feel engaged, immersed and fully present for this loving, challenging and sometimes very entertaining time in my life.  How can we grab opportunities to slow down?  In this busy life, how can we make sure that we truly connect with our children every day?  Here are some things that work for me-what works for you? My Summer Babies and What They Have Taught This Pediatrician and Mom

All three of my children were summer babies.  As the calendar year turns again,  I have a new teenager, a 10 year old and an 8 year old.  Each year a new vulnerability and a new perspective emerges.  I fret about letting go, I wonder, can I bring more wisdom to my parenting, can I be a more empathic, understanding pediatrician?  Somewhere at the intersection of my children at home and my families at my office, I think I have learned some important lessons.
